Capital HS WR
Matt Miller
(Helena, MT) is one of the top prospects in the State of Montana for 2010. He recently trimmed his list down to five and
Boise State
made the cut. "My top five are Boise State,
Arizona State
,
Stanford
,
Oregon
, and
Oregon State
," he said. "Arizona State, Stanford, and Boise State are recruiting me the hardest right now," he added.
Miller (6'4, 210, 4.55) received his offer from Boise State over spring break as he made an unofficial visit to Boise. "They offered me when I went down for the trip on spring break," he said. "It was a humbling honor."
The standout WR is currently being recruited by (Assistant Head Coach/WRs Coach) Brent Pease. One could say that Pease is the right man for the job given that his alma mater is Montana and his connections in the state. "Coach Pease is recruiting me," Miller said. "He's a great guy that played at Montana and is a big fisherman. He's a down to earth guy like Coach Petersen."
Matt likes the direction of the Bronco football program. "The football program is outstanding and I like that they win conference championships. I could see that as an easy transition. Boise also reminds me a lot of Montana"
The "easy transition" that Miller refers to is due to the fact that the Capital Bruins are the #1 program in the State of Montana. They dominated their opponents last season by a total score of 609-217. "We finished 13-0," he said. "That's a three-peat. We work for everything we got. We get up at 6 a.m. in the morning and our kids love winning. We produce championships. It kind of becomes engraved that you have to work to win. It's a tough mentality."
The Bruins looked good in spring practice and now Miller hopes to lead his team to yet another state championship in 2009. "It was good," he said in reference to spring practice. "We'll be a little younger. We'll need some guys to step up. They got experience out there since there were a lot of blowout games," he added.
What does Miller bring to the gridiron? "Definitely a knowledge of the game," Miller said. "I'm a student of the game. My toughness and I'm not afraid to take hits as well."
Last season, Miller saw time all over the field. He rushed for 465 yards and 4 TDs. At WR, he had 45 receptions for 664 yards and 10 TDs. He also had an INT at the S position. Matt is expected to play WR in college.
BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Matt Miller.
